30days

Home stretch…

Physical Wellness… Calisthenics have been my savior. When I have felt like going to the gym or class would “take too much time,” I get on my yoga mat and do my crunches, push ups, planks, squats and/or kettle bell swings.  When I do make Yoga, I feel so good! My body is not as tense and I know I’ve worked hard, because I’m exhausted. The 105 degree room is detoxifying and always feels good! I am reminded at how easy it can be to get a workout in. All you need is commitment!

Spiritual Wellness… I am convinced that I will make at least 15 minutes of alone time every day to meditate. Whether it is sitting and enjoying mother nature (my favorite), a drive after a fresh snow fall, a brisk walk around the block, or just sitting in my car at the beach watching the waves hit the shore.

Mental Wellness… This has been the most awakening. I was not expecting this much of an awakening, but I’m glad I’ve noticed it. I spent a lot of time going over multiple books on financial independence.  Although, I’m not horrible, I can do so much better. Focusing on this area will be my primary focus in 2013. I will be financially independent, based on my definition! I will do so by continuing to feed my mental wellness with books and audios that will make me think AND by taking action!

What will be your primary focus for 2013?

Luv,

Liv

Days 19 & 20

Physical Wellness… bikram yoga, for those that don’t know, it’s 90 minutes of yoga in a 105 degree room. It’s intense, but the feeling of calmness and energy you get afterwards is so rewarding! Look up a studio in your area and go… I dare you 😉

Kettle bell swings are a beast! They are the best, quick, full body workout you will find. Find a kettle bell that is not too heavy for you (I use a 10lb) and hold it with both arms between your legs while squatting. As you come up from your squat, swing your arms above your head. Without pausing go back down to a squat swinging return your arms down to the starting position. Repeat for 5 minutes. Tell me how you feel after you’ve tried it.

Spirtual Wellness… One word, yoga. Anyone who has done yoga will confirm it is just as much a spiritual exercise as it is physical! Have you looked up a studio yet?

I was waiting for car repairs and decided to move from the waiting room to the entrance area so I could watch the rain/snow come down. Snow, it’s such a beatiful thing! If only people knew how to drive in it 🙂

Mental wellness… still reading “Its Rising Time.” It has me starting to question some of my financial patterns. My favorite part so far is their definitions of an asset, liability and income. Its not the traditional definitions I’ve been taught, but they are so much logical!

Met with my life coach Kevin, yes life coach. It’s always rewarding to have someone to talk through whats going on in your life. Partners are good for that too, but its nice to have another non-biased opinion. Everyone should have a coach or therapist to talk to, in my opinion. It helps balance life, or as Kevin puts it, harmonize life. Some areas are louder than others and talking through those areas can help quiet some of the noise.

So…. about that yoga studio near you 😉

Liv

Day 14 – 18…

This is more than I thought it would be! Blogging alone is a challenge in itself! PHEW!! But I have been keeping my commitment!

Physical Wellness.. I realized I need to stop stressing over trying to get to a gym or a class to get my physical in. I can very easily do 30 minutes of calisthenics at home and I do, but I need to more frequently. I simply need to return to my basics… sit ups, push up, jumping jacks, squats, planks, kettle bell swings, etc.  Stretching has also been a big piece of my physical wellness. It helps release tension and improves posture. I’ve been using my Styrofoam roller to stretch my back and shoulders and I love it! Physical wellness is a requirement!

Spiritual Wellness… Meditation is becoming easier and easier.  Being with nature has helped my mind clear. I am continually fascinated by how our earth functions and find myself staring at blowing trees, falling rain, waves at the beach… and feeling complete peace. I have noticed that sometimes shorter more frequent moments of silence are just as good for me. I will continue to spend 10-15 minutes in the mornings to help me make clearer decisions on accomplishing my tasks. I’ll spend another 10-15 mins in the evening to help me relax my thoughts and sleep well.

Mental Wellness… I’ve been reading “It’s Rising Time” by Kim Kiyosaki. Yes I know… I jump around with my reading, but its my way of not getting bored. My brain retains more when I spend a few minutes on each topic. Since I’ve going back and forth between “Think and Grow Rich” and “It’s Rising Time”, I’ve realized that financial wellness is an area I should concentrate as well…. hhhmmm… maybe a new challenge for 2013?

What’s on your list for improvement in 2013?

Luv,

Liv

Days 11, 12 & 13… life happens

I’ve kept up with my mental and spiritual challenge. Time for the physical has been a challenge! Why is physical always the one we push to the side?

This week has been a wild one! Here’s how my week has been…

I gave notice at my current job. When asked why I’m leaving, I didn’t know what to say. I finally decided to share the truth. My new job has  a financial increase and its closer to home, but the real reason is the unnecessary drama in the office. When someone spends so much energy on my life instead of their own, its makes me feel sorry for that person. For over 2 years I tried to ignore them and keep moving, but there comes a time when you have to remove yourself from those situations. I never wish harm on anyone and I don’t believe in karma, but I will be glad when I don’t have to see a certain someone 5 days out of my week. 😉

A couple days ago I was on my way home on the train, when a poor soul decided to jump in front of the one that left earlier. My usual one hour train ride, took 3 hours to get home. I decided to use the time to read and meditate. 😀

Last night I had a unhealthy discussion with my 13 year old daughter. She said things that really hurt me. We’ve always had an open relationship where there is trust to talk about anything, but I’ve always taught respect and love. I think I’ve given her too much freedom, because she believes she can make her own life decisions. Now I have to put her in her place and I’m not sure how that will impact our relationship.

I’m not making excuses for not staying on top of my 30 day challenge, but as I look back at my week, I realize a couple things… I really need to do this for myself! And I need to schedule my 90 minutes!!

On to some happier me moments! I say moments, because I refuse to let one moment ruin my next moment 🙂

Luv,
Liv

Day 10… traveling is work!

I love vacations. This was a very much needed time away. Yesterday I traveled back home and I forget how traveling can take up your whole day.

Although I didn’t spend specific time on any of my three dimensions, I believe they were fulfilled. Feeling the warm sun and air fulfilled my Spiritual Wellness, rushing to from locations and carrying luggage fulfilled my Physical Wellness and my Mental Wellness was fulfilled by having a meaningful, much needed conversation about space and allowance.

This is a great realization of how easy we can/do fulfill our dimensions on a daily basis. Take a moment and think about yesterday and what conversation(s) or moments made you feel fulfilled.

Liv

Day 9… Diversity excites me!

Physical Wellness… did some dips and stretches in my hotel room and have been walking, touring the amazingly diverse city of Miami!!

Today I have combined my Spiritual and Mental Wellness… I Love people. I LOVE differehint cultures. Connecting with people in Miami from Brazil, Jordon, Cuba, Argentina… and many more has made me smile. Hearing them tell me a piece of their story is always so intriguing! This is why I love Miami!!

I realized today that I love history. Took a tour of Miami/Miami Beach; learning so much about the history of the cities was a rewarding experience.

Looking forward to seeing and learning more about Miami and other cities as I visit them!

Where is your favorite place to visit that you keep returning to and why?

Luv,
Liv
